Before a practice is bought, doctors usually only test a small number of patients who qualify for VSD. The number of tests will increase significantly after acquisition as a higher percentage of patients who qualify for VSD will be tested.
Only patients for whom medical necessity can be established will be tested, but a very large percentage of patients in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Pain Management practices can qualify for testing. This raises revenue, making the practice more valuable both before and after the roll-up – which benefits the new owner.
